The novelty is positioned as a device for 3D visualization and use in workflows controlled with the use of augmented reality. Unlike the previous model, the ThinkReality A6, which looks like a typically mixed reality headset, this version looks more like chunky sunglasses. At the same time, companies can modify it taking into account their specifics, using the case-frame options offered by Lenovo, with an emphasis on durability or safety.

ThinkReality A3 is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR1 hardware platform used for virtual and mixed reality headsets. The novelty can display up to five virtual displays with a resolution of 1080p, has an 8-megapixel camera that provides video recording at 1080p. There are also two fisheye cameras of the SLAM (Simultaneous Localization And Mapping) location tracking system. The headset needs to be connected via a USB-C port to either a PC or a Motorola smartphone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 series processor or better to work.

The PC version of the smart glasses uses Windows software tools and applications. A3 Industrial Edition relies on Motorola’s ThinkReality software platform for hands-free AR-enabled tasks.

The ThinkReality A3 smart glasses are designed for use in a variety of scenarios, from factory floors and laboratories to retail spaces and hotels, providing remote access, guided workflows and 3D visualization. Since the ThinkReality A3 is targeted at the corporate market, Lenovo did not list a consumer price, but also announced that it will be available in select countries from mid-2021.
