MSI unveils the Radeon RX 6800 (XT) Gaming X Trio with a large cooler and slightly overclocked

Official sales of reference versions of Radeon RX 6800 and RX 6800 XT video cards have already begun, which means that AMD partners will soon begin to massively announce their non-reference solutions based on them, which are expected to go on sale next week. One of the first was Micro-Star International (MSI), which announced the Radeon RX 6800 XT and RX 6800 models in the Gaming X Trio and Gaming Trio versions.

The difference between the regular and “X” variants of the new products lies in the presence of the latest factory overclocked graphics processor, while the regular versions are ready to offer the reference frequency values declared by AMD. Not a bad option for those who like to manually overclock.

For example, the stated peak GPU frequency of the MSI Radeon RX 6800 XT Gaming X Trio is 2285 MHz, which is 35 MHz higher than the reference frequency. For the Radeon RX 6800 Gaming X Trio, the Taiwanese manufacturer claims a GPU frequency of 2155 MHz, which is 50 MHz higher than the reference.

All new items are equipped with 16 GB of GDDR6 video memory with a 256-bit bus. The manufacturer did not carry out any manipulations with the memory frequency, so it retained its reference effective indicator of 16 GHz.

Externally, video cards are no different. All presented models received CO Tri-Frozr 2 with three TORX 4.0 fans based on double rolling bearings, which provides high-quality cooling with a minimum noise level.

If there is no load on the graphics system, the graphics card coolers do not rotate. They only run when the GPU temperature rises to 60 degrees Celsius.

MSI has redesigned the cooling system heatsink. Its edges are now located closer to each other and more efficiently remove heat from the hot components of the video card. The massive aluminum block is riddled with seven rectangular copper heat pipes and a nickel-plated copper base for GPU contact. Additional heat pipes are located on the metal base of the rear bracing plate.

The company explains. that the previous version of the Tri-Frozr cooling system was already one of the most efficient on the market. Nevertheless, the manufacturer managed to increase its efficiency by another 2 degrees relative to the previous generation of CO.

MSI has included special support in the package of video cards, which will protect massive graphics accelerators from sagging and excessive physical pressure on the PCIe x16 slot.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not indicate the cost of the presented novelties.
