Tesla Model S has fallen in price again, while Model X has significantly increased range

Tesla founder Elon Musk said at a recent quarterly conference that he considers it important to lower the final cost of electric vehicles in order to boost their popularity. In the company’s pricing policy, this principle is reflected in the cost of not only cheap but also flagship models of electric vehicles.

This week, American buyers of Tesla Model S sedans got the opportunity to save $ 3,000 when ordering electric vehicles with four-wheel drive and two electric motors. The cost of the car in the Long Range Plus specification dropped from $ 74,990 to $ 71,990, and the Performance version dropped in price from $ 94,990 to $ 91,990. The recently presented Tesla Model S Plaid with three electric motors and impressive dynamics retained the same price tag – from $ 139,990.

This is not the first price cut for Tesla Model S in a year, in May the cost of the Long Range Plus version dropped by $ 5,000 to $ 74,990. Tesla Model X and Model 3 electric vehicles were subject to markdowns, separate changes were provided for the price list for those released in China electric vehicles. The Tesla Model S is now offered at a lower price in Canada too.

At the same time, buyers of fresh copies of Tesla Model X noticed that a special label now declares an increased power reserve from 351 to 371 miles on a single charge. Twenty miles is an additional 32 kilometers, a significant increase in daily use. It turns out that the Tesla Model X crossover is now able to travel up to 594 km without recharging. Apparently, progress in this direction has been achieved through the optimization of traction batteries, drive components, and software. Large-scale changes in the design of battery cells, which Tesla talked about in September, will be implemented in serial electric vehicles only in a few years.
