Tetsuya Nomura urged not to wait for Kingdom Hearts on Nintendo Switch

The head of the Kingdom Hearts franchise, Tetsuya Nomura, in a recent interview with Nintendo Enthusiast, commented on the likelihood of the series’ games on the Nintendo Switch console.

Recall that the upcoming rhythm action game Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory will be the first part of Kingdom Hearts on the Nintendo hybrid console, but quite possibly the last.

According to Nomura, Square Enix currently has no clear plans to release other Kingdom Hearts games on Nintendo Switch. At the same time, the Japanese publishing house thought about porting but found the process too time-consuming.

Nomura is sympathetic to the Nintendo hybrid device: the developer “always wanted to do something” with the Nintendo Switch. Therefore, the console became one of the target platforms for Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory.

At the same time, the game designer said that the release of his other games on the Nintendo hybrid console is more likely. The developer decided not to specify what kind of projects we are talking about.

In addition to Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory, there are at least two more games in the series in development at Square Enix: mobile Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road and a yet unannounced project.

Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory will go on sale November 13 this year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. On the territory of Japan, rhythm-action will appear two days earlier – on November 11.
