Trailers about the gameplay and the benefits of defeat in the grim tactics of Otherside
Introduced in August 2018, the tactical game Otherside in gloomy surroundings will be released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on July 28, and by the end of summer, there will also be a version for Nintendo Switch. Ahead of the launch, Focus Home Interactive and the developers at Lightbulb Crew continue to talk about their project. They recently released two videos.
The first is devoted to an overview of the gameplay. Otherwise, you will face horror and protect the world from the Suffering and Fruits of Nightmare – a malevolent race of monsters. The diverse skills, strategy, and army of the Daughters born of the greatest warrior in history make the player the only hope of mankind.
The battles in Otherside take place between dimensions, in the crevices where chaos dwells, in a place called Dark Corner. The chronology system forms battles, allowing you to control not only the events themselves but also the time when they occur. Any action can affect the chronology, make enemies wait, speed up allies, or launch a specific event at a specific time. The dynamic timing system allows you to interrupt enemy attacks before they happen, as well as to carry out mind-blowing combo attacks.
For example, one Daughter can cause delayed damage over the area, another – bring the enemy to the right place. And the third fighter will react to this with his blow. Instead of working with a predictable turn structure, you have to jump between different points in the timeline – keeping track of it is just as important as dealing with damage or saving health. Timeline allows you to create deadly combinations.
Not Daughter is like the other. As they fight, they acquire Features and become unique characters in the story of the struggle with Suffering. A ruthless killer can become arrogant. The cowardly Daughter is terrible, and the strong one is even more powerful. Growing up and gaining experience, they acquire new skills in one of three classes. The choice of the development branch will determine the role on the battlefield and the available abilities.
Each skill can be additionally changed, turning basic attacks into the most powerful ones possible. The player is free to increase damage or strengthen the defense, is free to add special effects like breaking armor, delaying the chronology or something completely unusual – over time, each character becomes unique.
At the same time, for the healing of some Daughters, others will have to be sacrificed. The onslaught of Suffering cannot be restrained constantly: each defeat opens up new opportunities and abilities that can be used in the future. Defeating the boss is not easy, but the reward promises to be worthy: you can get effects that can change the course of the game.
