Google Assistant has learned to send notifications to smartphones of user’s family members

A fresh update to the Google Assistant will make it easier to distribute various messages to all family members. Now, the Broadcast function allows you to send notifications to the smartphones of users in the group. In addition, the update has significantly improved the function of reminders for family members of Family Bell.

The improved broadcast function will help users alert all family members of important events through smartphones, smart speakers, and smart displays. For example, you can say to the smart Nest Home speaker in the kitchen, “ Ok Google, tell my family that dinner will be ready in an hour, ” and the Google Assistant will send messages to all other devices, including iPhones, that are linked to the family group.

Users who receive an alert in the Google Assistant will respond to it with a voice or text message. It is worth noting that the updated broadcast function strongly resembles the implementation of the Apple Intercom service, presented at the end of last year with the HomePod mini smart speaker.

Google also refined its Family Bell feature, unveiled last summer, to remind other family members to eat, exercise, or shop. Until the last update, it could only play the alert on one specific device. Starting today, she gets the opportunity to broadcast the notification to all smart devices in the house at once. Google says Family Bell will receive support for French, Japanese, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Korean, and Hindi in the coming weeks.
