And the second reason for the large size is the number of circuit boards. The less of them in the device, the cheaper its production and the final cost for the consumer. The size of the PS5 allowed Sony to fit all the parts on one board, as demonstrated in the aforementioned video. If there were two or even more of them, the complexity of heat removal would have increased along with the price.
