And recently, a Sony spokesperson explained why the PS5 was made so big. It turns out it’s all about design and cost savings.

The information came from Yasuhiro Otori, the person who took apart the PlayStation 5 in a recent video. In an interview with Japanese edition 4Gamer (translated by Pure PlayStation ), he said that the design department influenced the size of the console. His demand was: “The attachment should look thinner when horizontal. ” Because of this, the height had to be increased.

And the second reason for the large size is the number of circuit boards. The less of them in the device, the cheaper its production and the final cost for the consumer. The size of the PS5 allowed Sony to fit all the parts on one board, as demonstrated in the aforementioned video. If there were two or even more of them, the complexity of heat removal would have increased along with the price.

PlayStation 5 will hit Russian store shelves on November 19. The price is 37,999 rubles. for the digital version and 46,999 rubles. for the standard edition with an optical drive.
