“Alice” received expanded capabilities
The Yandex team presented its new development – the smart speaker “Midi Station”. The model received not only a new size for the Yandex speaker line, but also significant technical changes.
According to the press service, despite its compact size, the “Midi Station” has three speakers with a total power of 24 W (in the “Mini Station” – 10 W), a display that displays the time, weather and emotions of “Alice”, as well as “ powerful neural processor” that speeds up the response to voice commands.
Thanks to the neural processor, Station Midi processes requests faster and more accurately. As a result, “Alice” responds better to commands and recognizes people by voice.

In addition, you can now control Zigbee smart home devices using your voice even without an Internet connection. Yandex explained:
For example, if the Internet goes out, you can still turn on the lights or make them brighter with your voice. A powerful processor allows the speaker to process voice commands locally without sending them to the cloud.
Now “Alice” has learned to launch smart home scenarios when it hears human speech. For example, you can set a scenario so that in the morning Alice herself turns on the kettle and music as soon as she hears voices.
Sales of Yandex Station Midi will begin simultaneously in Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan on November 16, 2023. In the first two countries at the start, the speaker will be available in black and emerald colors, and in Kazakhstan – in black. A gray version of the case will appear later.
