YouTube Music for Android gets support for playing playlists with Google Assistant

The Google Play Music service will shut down this month. Its replacement should be the YouTube Music service, which has been actively developing in recent months and regularly receives new useful features. This time, YouTube Music has the ability to play personal playlists using the voice assistant Google Assistant.

Personal playlists are one of the demanded features of music services and are very popular among users. For a long time, it was impossible to play playlists using voice commands for Google Assistant in the YouTube Music service, despite the fact that such a function has been present in the YouTube service itself for a long time.

That changed in August when Google began beta testing the new feature with a limited number of YouTube Music users on Google Nest smart speakers. At the same time, it became known that in the future the function will be widespread and will become available to all users of the music service on different devices.

It took Google less than two months to test, and now the playability has become available to users of the service on Android devices. To start using the new feature, all you have to do is say, “Ok Google, turn on playlist X” or “Hey Google, turn on X”. After receiving the command, the voice assistant will launch the YouTube Music application and start playing the specified playlist.

Since the distribution of the new feature was recently launched, it may take some time before it becomes available to YouTube Music users around the world.
