Xbox record in UK: Xbox Series X & S hit 155k consoles on launch day
According to VGC sources, Xbox Series X and S sales in the United Kingdom totaled around 155,000 consoles on launch day, November 10. Thus, Microsoft broke the previous record of 150 thousand Xbox One systems that were sold in the first two days of sales in 2013.
Notably, the UK is the second-largest Xbox market outside of the US. However, the Xbox Series X and S are still far from the PlayStation 4 target. Sony Interactive Entertainment’s previous launch was the largest in the region’s history, with around 250,000 purchases in the first 48 hours. Before that, the PlayStation Portable was the record holder – 185 thousand systems.
As reported by VGC, all Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S were sold out on launch day and to this day are unavailable to buy at all major retail stores. However, Microsoft is likely to meet demand with new supplies soon, unless the pandemic continues to be a problem. The most popular Xbox Series model at launch in the UK was the Xbox Series X, which accounted for two-thirds of sales according to VGC sources. The same information was stated by Microsoft itself in the report on the successful start of the new generation.
