YouTube is testing automatic translation of video titles and descriptions
The YouTube video service (owned by Google) has begun testing the function of automatically translating titles and accompanying video descriptions into the user’s native language. Writes about this Android Police. Presumably, the company is still experimenting with the function since there has not yet been an official announcement.
Several viewers stated that they have already seen a translation of video titles, descriptions, and closed captions into Portuguese and Turkish. This applies to different platforms – mobile and PC. How many users got access to the option is not specified.
As a reminder, Google previously integrated subtitling support for real-time video into Chrome. The function recognizes English speech even when the sound is turned off from almost any video. Whether there will be support for the rest of the languages is not yet clear.
